Christmas in July

I have the day off for the holiday, so I decided to make a Christmas card. I have had a lot on my plate lately, and my priorities are leaning toward ministry and spending time with God. So I will come back to crafting occasionally, hopefully more often than not. But I will follow God’s leading and I’m ok with that!

Today’s card uses the sketch from Atlantic Hearts, the banner theme from Heart 2 Heart, and some colors from the Crazy 8 challenge at Color My Heart. I went in a slightly different direction and used red and green with brown to make Christmas colors!

Materials used:

Cardstock: White Daisy, New England Ivy, Candy Apple, Saddle

Ink: New England Ivy, Saddle, Candy Apple, Archival Black

Stamps: Doodled Borders

Other: Ivy Lane Assortment, Pink Glitter Gems, Prisma Glitter

Thanks for stopping by, and hope to see you soon!

Mixed Media

I try to participate in 52CCT every week, but I do get behind. This week I made one card that incorporated 3 challenges. Colors: pink, purple, and blue; Theme: tags on cards, and Technique: Mixed Media. The sketch is from Atlantic Hearts. This card ended up being big: 7.5”x5.5”. It seems I’m not very good at mixed media, but it was fun to try something different. I spread some texture paste on a stencil for the tags and watercolored over them when they dried. I painted some pearl paint over crackle medium around the edges. I don’t know think the crackle worked with the pearl paint. I stamped a Merry Christmas  tag, but it got covered up with paint and just looks kind of dirty. I don’t know. Maybe some of you could give me some pointers. Then I added some bows and embellishments.

Materials used:

Cardstock: Sky, Pansy Purple, Baby pink, White Daisy

Paper: Die Cut Mat Pad (K&Company, not CTMH)

Stamps: Yuletide Carol Scrapbooking Workshop

Ink: Archival Black

Other: Texture Paste, Pearl Paint, Watercolors, Fundamentals Assortment, Brushed Assortment, Laughing Lola Assortment, Black Gem Flourishes

Country Teddy Bear

Today I made a funny little card that reminds me of decorations people had in their homes back in the 1990s. Teddy Bear’s picnic or something like that. After I picked my papers, I found this little thumbprint bear in my scraps and I thought it looked cute. Very country.

I am participating in Color My Heart, Heart 2 Heart, Double Trouble, and Use Your Stuff.

I used some non-CTMH paper I got from Hobby Lobby for the plaid background. I won some CTMH paper from Double Trouble, and I used some of that for the green plaid panel. I think it is the Holly Jolly paper pack. The cardstock is Bluebird, Pansy Purple and Honey.

I used the dimensions of the sketch from Heart 2 Heart, but I rotated it. The colors I pulled from the Inspiration Photo at Color My Heart were green, red, yellow, purple, and blue. I used green and plaid for Double Trouble and joined up with Use Your Stuff.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Bluebird, Pansy Purple, Honey
Paper: Holly Jolly, 12 Days of Christmas (the Paper Studio, not CTMH)
Stamps: Countdown
Ink: Willow

Vintage and pink

Today I made a Christmas card in the old style. The Color Dare is shades of pink plus one color. I chose green as my second color for a pastel Christmas look. I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts which goes perfectly with the border challenge at Heart 2 Heart.

I used Father Christmas and colored with watercolor pencils. The paper is from Yuletide Carol. I made the holly berries pink by adding glitter gems. Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next week!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Champagne, Colonial White, Baby Pink
Paper Pack: Yuletide Carol
Stamps: Father Christmas
Ink: Chocolate
Other: glitter gems, watercolor pencils

Snowmen

This is my weekly Christmas card. I am participating in these three challenges: the sketch is from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, the colors are from Color My Heart’s Diagonal on the tic tac toe - Candy Apple, Lagoon, and Bluebird. The challenge at Paperminutes was Snowmen, but I think I missed the deadline for that one. Oops.

For the diagonal section of the sketch, I embossed my White Daisy panel with a snowflake embossing folder. For the stripes I added 2 Lagoon strips, and then layered them with Lagoon ribbon. The snowman was stamped with Bluebird and the little snowflakes are Lagoon. Then I added a red metal flower from the Brushed assortment for the Candy Apple.

Materials used:

Cardstock: Bluebird, White Daisy, Lagoon

Stamps: Winter Joy

Ink: Bluebird, Lagoon

Other: Brushed Assortment, Lagoon Ribbon, embossing folder from Provo Craft

Christmas Love

Last night I made this card which fits into several challenges, and I think it turned out so pretty for how many challenges I did! Here is the list:

52 Christmas Card Throwdown -metallic papers

Atlantic Hearts -sketch

Double Trouble -recipe: 3 embellishments, 2 pattern papers, 1 stamped image

Cupcake Inspirations -colors: Gold, Maroon, and Teal

Heart 2 Heart - All You Need is Love

For my 2 pattern papers I used a metallic stripe from Happy Times and a teal pattern from Florence. The maroon is some Vineyard Berry I had a scrap of, and I stamped the Scandinavian heart in Vineyard Berry. My son helped me with the 3 embellishments. He wanted 1 bow, 2 hearts, and 3 red gems.

Thanks for coming by to see my Christmas card this week! Come back next week and we’ll see what I come up with!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Vineyard Berry, White Daisy
Paper packs: Florence, Happy Times
Stamps: Scandinavian Wishes, Christmas Love
Ink: Peacock, Vineyard Berry
Other: Peacock Fundamentals Assortment, Red gems, chipboard tag and heart

Tea Party

Today I made a layout from the Scraptacular January sketch. I used the colors from Color My Heart: Mint, Smoothie, Ballerina, French Vanilla, Candy Apple, and Carolina.

I used my Tea Time stamp set and fussy cut all those tea pots and cups. I also stamped the backgrounds onto cardstock: Mint, Carolina, Candy Apple and Smoothie on Ballerina, and Smoothie on Smoothie. I decided to mat the little squares with White Daisy to give them a nice clean look. Looking at this layout reminds me of a blanket I crocheted one time. I’ll see if I can find the picture of it.

It’s just missing the blue! Here is the sketch and color combo. Thanks for visiting, and we’ll see you next week!

Materials used:

Cardstock: Mint, Ballerina, Smoothie, Carolina, French Vanilla, White Daisy, Holiday Red

Inks: Candy Apple, Smoothie, Carolina, Mint

Stamps: Line It Up Cricut Bundle, It’s the Little Things, Diverse Backgrounds, Tea Time

Three Trees

Today I made a slimline card. I had to look it up, because I’ve never made one before, but that was the challenge at Heart 2 Heart. I cut my card base 8 1/2”x7 1/2”. For Color My Heart, I used green, gold, and white for the 1+1+1 challenge. I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts, and I like the way this one turned out.

I stamped my trees with Olive ink onto Garden Green cardstock and fussy cut them. I put them on the White Daisy panel and put that onto a Garden Green card base. I added some gold sequins and cut the sentiment from my cuttlebug. It was one I got from Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!

Christmas Card Throwdown

I love the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge. I used to be on their design team, several years ago, and it was such a neat experience! I keep looking at the challenges this year, but haven’t been able to participate yet. So I combined the first 3 challenges and made one card! I used the sketch from week one, the colors from week two, and the theme of bells from week three!

Here are the materials I used for my card:

Cardstock: White Daisy, Chocolate, Saddle, and Olive Fundamentals

Stamp sets: Yuletide Greetings, Yuletide Carol, and Holiday Wishes

Ink: Chocolate

Other: Barn Red marker, random gold sequins

Scrapbooking!

Toward the end of last year, I realized I needed to get back to scrapbooking, since I hadn’t really done any since 2018. So I finished my Craft With Heart Kits, printed all my pictures from 2019, and filled up the book. I finished it in a week! My hubby also had taken me to Hawaii in 2019, and I’d had those pics printed for a while. So I worked on that album during the Christmas break. I finished in time for New Year’s.

I have a goal for this year to finish my 2018 and my 2020 scrapbooks. Someone added me to the Scraptacular Cropping challenge, so I have done a layout for that challenge the past three weeks. It has been fun! Since the challenge is on Facebook, I didn’t think to post them to my blog, but I will put them here:

Valentine

Today I am participating in 3 challenges:

Color My Heart

Atlantic Hearts

As You See It

The challenge for As You See It is to use your scrap box and make a card in less than 10 minutes. You’re allowed to lay your card out before you start the timer, so I grabbed my boxes to see what colors I had from the Color Dare tic tac toe.

I ended up finding some die cuts in Smoothie, Blue Belle, and Paprika. But problem is, I’m supposed to be making a Christmas card, and these are all Valentines cutouts! So, I’m going to have to make a Christmas card after this. So stay tuned!

I laid out my card, then set the timer and started gluing! I finished and embellished it with 15 seconds to spare! I even decorated the inside.

After I had the diagonal colors for the tic tac toe, I decided to add the Toffee because I had found a die cut that fit well.

As far as materials, I’ve had these for ages, but I think they are Heartstrings, Cranberry Cricut cuts, chipboard heart, Smoothie and White Daisy cardstock, Desert Sands Cricut cut, and some Dutch Blue die cuts (the colors are close, but not exact. I don’t think I own any Paprika or Blue Belle!). The flower is stamped with Universal Backgrounds I think. Then I embellished with some blue sparkles.

Thanks for visiting and come back soon!

New Year’s Resolutions

Hi! Welcome back! I have fulfilled my promise to make a Christmas card this week. This year I have about 30 New Year’s resolutions, so I am a little ambitious. Last year I focused on the Lord and spiritual growth, so this year I am adding some things to create balance in my life. I haven’t been crafting much, but I need that bit of creativity. So this year I am focusing on balance, not on obsessing over one thing. I’m reading more, scrapbooking, knitting, swimming, organizing, and healthy meal planning in addition to spiritual disciplines like reading my Bible, prayer journaling, hospitality, and fasting. I am hoping this will be a boost to my mental and emotional health as well.

Today I’ve created a card for the “Out with the Old, In with the New” challenge at Heart 2 Heart. I made it with Peacock, Flamingo, and Avocado for the colors at Color My Heart. I think it makes for a very pretty non-traditional Christmas card. The sketch is from Atlantic Hearts. I think it’s a very pretty sketch!

I used a border punch on some pattern paper from Florence, some peacock cardstock, and I stamped an image from Snowhaven Cardmaking Workshop onto White Daisy card stock. I added some pink and green flowers for the Flamingo and Avocado. The sentiment is from the Christmas Love stamp set.
