Old Fashioned Monsters

Here's a card I made for a challenge that had me stumped for a while. I like to combine the sketch and inspiration challenges at Fusion. I didn't have many stamps that went along with the book theme, but I think this old-fashioned typewriter works. I added in some monsters from the Hooligans paper pack. The colors were perfect!

I wanted two of the pointing hands, so I stamped it once, then again onto my rubber roller then rolled it onto the paper, so it made a mirror image. I popped up the hands with pop dots and trimmed the sides.

What do you think? What will you come up for the Fusion Card Challenge?

Unwinding with Flowers

Hi and happy hump day! I have been so busy this week with VBS and swim meets, but I've still managed to carve out some time to make a card. I made this using the colors from Color My Heart and the Sketch from Atlantic Hearts. The theme is relax and unwind from Heart 2 Heart, and flowers have always been relaxing for me, plus these colors are very soothing. I'm also entering this into the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says.

I used the Happy Times paper pack and stamp set. We were allowed to use gold or silver on our projects, and the paper had the prettiest gold and pink paper that made this card turn out gorgeous! I do not have Blossom yet, and I don't know, but I assume that the pink in this paper pack is the same as Blossom. Correct me if I'm wrong! I used Blush ink to stamp the flowers.

I also do not have Linen yet, so I used Colonial White paper and ribbon. I'm not sure, but on the computer Linen looks a little grey, but I think it replaced Colonial White?

I hope you can come join me this week at my favorite Close To My Heart challenges!

Cardstock: Colonial White, New England Ivy
B&Ts: Happy Times
Stamps: Happy Times, Pretty Petals
Ink: Blush, New England Ivy

Rustic Christmas Card

Hello! Today I have made a Christmas card for 52CCT and Merry Monday using a sketch from The Paper Players. I am very sad that this is the last challenge at Merry Monday. I used to love to play along with them every week, and was now just getting back into it. I really loved that challenge blog. I will have to find another Christmas challenge. I really like 52CCT, but I need at least one more. Do you all know of one?

I made a rustic card using the camping paper pack Timberline with a woodgrain background. This paper is not meant for Christmas, but I think it really works, especially when I add the red dots.

I stamped the candle from Yuletide Greetings, cut it out, and colored it in with ink pads. The sentiment is also from Yuletide Greetings.

I hope you will be able to play along one last time with Merry Monday! Also come join me at The Paper Players and 52CCT!

Cardstock: Colonial White

Owls and Pineapples

Hey there! It's Monday, and we've got a busy week ahead of us. This week is VBS, so I won't have tons of time for crafting, but I'm going to try to get a few cards in. I started this card yesterday for Your Next Stamp and Just Us Girls. I finished it up today. I came home to pleasant air conditioning in my craft room. It's been sweltering for about 3 weeks since the air went out upstairs. They finally finished it today, and I think I'll be able to be a little more creative when I make cards now, not so enslaved to the sweat-inducing Alabama heat and humidity!

So here's my card. I used the colors and sketch from Your Next Stamp.

I was thinking about wings for the owl, and I had some pineapple paper in front of me, so I just cut out the pineapples for the wings and attached some googly eyes. It's supposed to be a light-hearted birthday card. Did I accomplish that mission? Here is the inside:

Come on and play along with me this week!

Cardstock: White daisy
B&Ts: Ivy Lane, Babycakes, Calypso, Zoe, Sugar Rush

Girl Power

I've been pretty busy lately and I've kind of lost my mojo. I had about 10 challenges that I wanted to participate in, but couldn't come up with something good. I find that when I go peruse what other people have done, it usually helps me come up with something.

So I got some inspiration and made this card last night. It didn't take long to make, but it took quite a while to come up with the idea. I needed to use something from my "bits box" for the challenge at Less is More. I had a lot of things in there, so it was hard to narrow it down. I needed to do a girl power theme for Addicted to CAS, and the technique at Crazy for Challenges was Ombre. So I found a distressed background stamp and stamped it in various shades of orange for the ombre look. The stripe and sentiment for the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch were pulled out of my bits box. The blue strip was already stamped, which is why I chose shades of orange for the background.

I made sure to stamp the girl to one side of the card to leave lots of open space. She is stamped with archival black ink to give a good silhouette.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all can come play along with me at these fun challenges!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy
Stamps: Distressed Backgrounds, Fashionista, Summer Picnic
Ink: Archival Black, Creme Brulee, Sunset, Sorbet, Smoothie
Other: cricut cut (can't remember which cartridge)

Floral Pottery

Hello, and welcome to my blog. Today I'm going to show you a card that I made. I like to make encouraging cards with Bible verses on Wednesdays because Word Art Wednesday always has a great verse for us to use. I like the King James, but it's not always received well, so sometimes I wish they would provide it in a more modern version. But God's word is His word no matter the language, and it will not return void.

The sketch I used is from Freshly Made, and the colors are from Color Throwdown. I chose Taffy, Baby Pink, Watermelon, and Topiary. I'm also entering this into the Bright and Cheerful challenge at Simon Says.

I saw this technique used recently and I wanted to try it. I stamped the flowers in White Daisy pigment ink, then sprinkled on white embossing powder and heat embossed the flowers. Then I used the ink pads and a paintbrush with water to color in the flowers. I really like how it turned out.

I'm so glad I got my printer hooked up. I haven't used it in over two years! I'm going to be able to make these cards every week now, Lord willing!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy
B&Ts: Free to Be Me
Stamps: Springtime Wishes
Ink: White Daisy, Watermelon, Topiary, Taffy, Baby Pink

Jumpy Balloons

So yesterday I made this card for my favorite Tuesday challenges. After I made it, I really hated it, and I thought, "There's no way I'm entering it into these challenges because I play to win, and this is not winning material." At least I try to play to win, not that I ever do. It's ok though, I still have lots of fun. But, I always try to do my best and this was not my best. So I just let it sit overnight. This morning when I woke up, I had an idea to cover the balloon animal with liquid glass to make it look more balloony. After I did that, I thought it gave it just the right touch. So, I'm entering it. It may or may not be a winner, but at least it's decent enough to share.

I used a couple of ovals cut from my Cricut that I haven't been using much lately for the machine challenge at Shopping Our Stash. I used the bunny balloon animal for the jumpy challenge at CASology. The sketch is from Tuesday Morning, and I rotated it so the bunny would fit nicely.

I really wanted to use more Lagoon on this card. I chose the colors Lagoon, Glacier and Sorbet for the color challenge at CAS Colors and Sketches. I ended up cutting out the scalloped oval in Glacier and using Lagoon for the sentiments and the twine. But they were so thin that the lagoon ended up looking lighter, more like the Glacier. So that's one thing that was a little disappointing about the way it turned out. Also, I didn't have anything to tie the Sorbet into, and it stamps more orangy than I like. It should be a really pretty coral color.

Anyway, it is what it is, and it will make a nice birthday card for a baby. So enjoy, and come play with me at these awesome Tuesday challenges!

Cardstock: White Daisy, Glacier

Little Flamingos

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. Today I created a card for 3 challenges, and it was quite a fun one. Sunday Stamps had an interesting color combo for us to use. The Paper Players wanted us to use birds on our projects. And Heart 2 Heart asked us to CASE a project from the CTMH Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book. I decided to CASE the middle card on page 28. I did not have this catalog or any of these papers/stamps. So I looked it up at closetomyheart.com, and I just had to use what I had. Here is the card I was casing:

And here is my card:

For the colors at Sunday Stamps, I decided to use Pear, Topiary, Black, Colonial White, and Watermelon. The last color seemed like a pinkish red, but I wasn't really sure about it. Watermelon is more of a hot pink, and it is the oldest color I have. It matched the flamingo pretty well, so it worked.

I used paper from several different packs. I had to search for a while, but I think they ended up all going together nicely! I hope you can come play along at these challenges this week!

Cardstock: Colonial White, Topiary, Pear
B&Ts: Calypso, No Worries, Blossom

Candles, Jars, and Peppermints

Today I made another Christmas card! I really liked the inspiration photo at Merry Monday, so I grabbed some stamps from my stash and pieced them together to make something similar to the photo. The sketch at Atlantic Hearts was perfect for this challenge, too, I just replaced the tag with this mason jar. I'm also entering this into the layered holiday cards at Pile It On.

First I wanted a woodgrain background, and I recently remembered that there was one in the No Worries paper pack I got last summer. Then, I wanted a jar and candle, and they were both in the Candlelight Garden stamp set. I stamped them onto White cardstock and on the B&T paper, and paper pieced them together. I also stamped the peppermints from the Sweet as Sugar stamp set onto white daisy and onto the background paper. I got the evergreen branches from the Yuletide Carol WOTG stamp set. For the little holly berries, I embossed them with cranberry embossing powder. I found the perfect sentiment in the Wintry Wishes stamp set. It fits in with the warmth of the card from the candle.

The candle was colored with a Buttercup alcohol ink marker. I can't believe it still works after all these years. Very few of mine still work, but I wish they did. I loved them so much.

I hope you enjoyed my card, and I hope you'll get to play along at Merry Monday, Atlantic Hearts, and Pile It On this week too!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy
B&Ts: No Worries
Stamps: Yuletide Carol, Candlelight Garden, Sweet as Sugar, Wintry Wishes
Ink: Cocoa, Black, Cranberry
Other: Ruby Twine from the Mini Medleys, Cranberry Embossing Powder, Buttercup alcohol Marker

Christmas Wreaths

Here is the Christmas card I made for the wreath challenge at 52CCT. I'm using the sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges. The Colors are from Just Us Girls - Red & Black plus one other color. I chose Glacier. There is also some grey and white in there, but I figure they don't count since they're neutrals. I'm also entering this into the die cut challenge at Three Amigos. I used my cricut and the Flower Market cartridge to cut the wreaths and bows.

I feel like it needs a sentiment right in the center of that middle wreath. I couldn't figure anything out on Saturday when I made the card. Do y'all have any ideas? Thanks a lot, and I hope you can play along with me at these fun challenges this week!

Seashells and Pearls

Yesterday I made this card using the colors from Color My Heart and the theme from CASology. I thought it was a good fit because the colors remind of that seashell paper pack that came out with this stamp set. I can't remember the name of it right now. And pearls go really well with seashells, so they look like they fit right in on this card. I'm also entering this into the no patterned paper challenge at Double Trouble. I didn't have a die cut that fit well, so I'm not entering the double dare today.

I used Colonial White cardstock and I stamped the shells in Sorbet and Glacier. The sentiment was stamped in Chocolate because I don't have any nutmeg.

Cardstock: Sorbet, Colonial White

Fresh Cherry Lime

Here is a card I made for 3 challenges:

CAS(E) This Sketch
Cupcake Inspirations
As You See It

To make the cupcakes, I stamped them each twice in pink, yellow, and green on scrap paper, cut them out and pieced them together. I used a red sequin for the cherry. Some were stamped directly onto the card, the others were popped up on foam dots.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White card (not CTMH), White Daisy
Stamps: A Chocolate Affair, Cutie Pie
Ink: Pear, Cotton Candy, Sunny Yellow
