Rainy Mondays

Yesterday was a rainy day, so I made this card. But it literally took me ALL day and into the night to make it. That's why I'm posting it today. I even had to go to the store to buy some crackle medium for my picket fence. I found a tutorial here, and followed the instructions to make it. I'm not sure why, but this card didn't turn out how I envisioned it. I spent SO much time on it, too. I was going for a shabby-chic look, and I think it fell short. Some constructive criticism would be appreciated! Here are the challenges for which I made this card:

Mojo Monday - sketch
The Shabby Tea Room - Use the colors and theme of the photo
Pink Elephant - Spring Colors
Heart 2 Heart - Raindrops keep Falling

I used a cereal box and paint to make the fence. I cut out the little clouds and leaves with the CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge. I was looking for a final touch and found some old fabric that I had used to make a blouse. I couldn't believe how perfectly it matched my colors!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Petal
Stamps: Avonlea Scrapbooking WOTG, Classmate Alphabet
Ink: Honey, Chocolate Distressing Ink
Other: Blue/Green Sparkles, Artiste Cricut cartridge, flowers and fabric and lace from stash (not CTMH), Antiqued copper brads, Plaid Christmas embossing folder (Cuttlebug - not CTMH), Folk Art acrylic paints and crackle medium (not CTMH), cereal box (not CTMH)

  1. I think your card is great :) I didn't even think of using fabric as a ribbon but a great touch. I think you might be too hard on yourself. I do the same thing to my cards as well. Leave it aside and then come back to it tomorrow morning and you will see it's amazing.
The only 1 thing that i would recommend is to keep in mind the focal point. Sometimes I get too many elements on the card and i find they compete for attention.

  4. All the elements on your card are great, and the spackle paint was SO worth the trip to the craft store! The fence is awesome! You could turn the sketch on its side, for a vertical card, so the sun and clouds are above the fence, but then I'm not sure where the bow would go...
