Girl Power

I've been pretty busy lately and I've kind of lost my mojo. I had about 10 challenges that I wanted to participate in, but couldn't come up with something good. I find that when I go peruse what other people have done, it usually helps me come up with something.

So I got some inspiration and made this card last night. It didn't take long to make, but it took quite a while to come up with the idea. I needed to use something from my "bits box" for the challenge at Less is More. I had a lot of things in there, so it was hard to narrow it down. I needed to do a girl power theme for Addicted to CAS, and the technique at Crazy for Challenges was Ombre. So I found a distressed background stamp and stamped it in various shades of orange for the ombre look. The stripe and sentiment for the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch were pulled out of my bits box. The blue strip was already stamped, which is why I chose shades of orange for the background.

I made sure to stamp the girl to one side of the card to leave lots of open space. She is stamped with archival black ink to give a good silhouette.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all can come play along with me at these fun challenges!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy
Stamps: Distressed Backgrounds, Fashionista, Summer Picnic
Ink: Archival Black, Creme Brulee, Sunset, Sorbet, Smoothie
Other: cricut cut (can't remember which cartridge)

  1. Great use of scraps, Sarah. I love the pattern in your background -it looks like fashionable fabric and therefore goes perfectly with your stylish lady! Please remember next time that Less Is More is a clean and simple challenge -we like to see plenty of white (=non patterned, empty) space in the cards in our gallery. Great card though and I hope to see you joining us again! Thanks for sharing this at Less Is More!

  2. This is a wonderful card. I love your tweedy background in varied shades of oranges and yellows, and the silhouette fashionista atop it. Just to piggyback on Nonni's comment, ours is a Clean And Simple challenge too, which means lots of white/unpatterned space. We'd love to have you join us again. There is a definition of CAS on our challenge posts to guide you. Thanks for joining us at ATCAS.

  4. A really stunning card, love all these element together. As Nonni mentioned, we do prefer to see more uninterrupted white space at LIM but that being said, it's still a wonderful CAS card.
Thanks so much for sharing with us at Less is More, Anita x
