Sunbeams at Sea
Today I made a Clean and Simple card for these challenges:
Tuesday Morning Sketches
Tuesday Throwdown - Stenciling
CASology - Sunbeam
Paperminutes - Scenes at Sea
I decided to go for a one-layer card (except for the base), and some simple stenciling. I cut a circle out of scrap paper and stamped some scenes from the sea using the negative space of the circle. Then I sponged some yellow ink to really outline the circles. I used two straight edges to sponge a yellow line across the top and stamped the sentiment inside. I decided to just stick with two colors to keep it clean and simple.
I hope you can come play along with me at these challenges!
Materials used:
Cardstock: Bamboo, White Daisy
Stamps: Perfect Day, Hello Summer
Ink: Desert Sand, Canary

Notes and Fresh Air
Hey guys! I have been MIA for about a week. Last week was so busy for me because my kids had a summer music and arts camp that I volunteered at, and they had their championship city swim meet over the weekend. It was great, but I got almost zero time for me and about as much sleep! I was running on coffee! In other news, I have been participating in the unofficial July Disneybound challenge, which is almost over, (if you don't know what disneybounding is, look it up!), and I've almost finished my 4th round of Whole30 (look that up too!)! This has been a challenging month, but you know me, I love challenges. So it's been great and I feel great.
I got tons of sleep last night, and I didn't have to get up early, so I took some time this morning and made this card. It is for Atlantic Hearts, Heart 2 Heart, and Color My Heart.
For the Duly Noted theme at Heart 2 Heart, I cut the notebook paper sheet out with the Artbooking cartridge, and I stamped it with the stamp from Take Note. The arrow and the note circle were also cut out with Artbooking and stamped with the Take Note stamp set. The flourish is from Wonderland WOTG stamp set, and the sentiment is from Card Chatter -Love. The colors I used are Whisper, Baby Pink, and Glacier.
Materials used:
Cardstock:Whisper, Baby Pink, White Daisy
Stamps: Take Note, Wonderland WOTG, Card Chatter - Love
Ink: Baby Pink, Glacier
Other: Artbooking Cricut cartridge
I made this card last week with the sketch at Atlantic Hearts and for the Fresh Air challenge at Heart 2 Heart, but I never found the time to photograph it until today. I used some old stuff from the Twitterpated paperpack, and the felt shapes that went along with it.
Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Chocolate, Crystal Blue
B&Ts: Twitterpated
Stamps: Catch You Later
Ink: Chocolate
Other: Color Ready Kraft Borders, felt shapes

Pink Pineapples
I had 5 challenges I wanted to participate in for this card. The sketch is from Tuesday Morning. The colors are from CAS Colors and Sketches. CASology had a cue card, "Cloud." City Crafter wants us to use pineapples. And the technique of Faux or Real Stitching is from Tuesday Throwdown. I ended up using the Calypso paper pack for the pineapple theme and adding some faux stitching made with an embossing tool and a paper piercer.

Retro Berry Birthday
Hey all! I really loved the retro-themed sketch at As You See It this week. And when I saw the colors at Color My Heart, I knew they would fit perfectly. It's like I'm being transported to a bright sunny kitchen in the 1970's! I made this birthday card and I'll enter it into the birthday challenge at Use Your Stuff.
I cut my shapes from the Cricut. The colors I used were Sunny Yellow, which I feel is a good match to Lemon, Pear, which is not quite as bright as Willow, but I don't have anything more similar, and Poppy. The Taste of Summer paper pack had a nice bright yellow like Lemon, I thought it was perfect. I stamped the strawberries in Poppy and Pear and finished off the card with a thin yellow ribbon. I stamped a simple "Happy Birthday" on the inside. I love the way it turned out, and I hope you love it too!
Materials used:
Cardstock: Sunny Yellow, Pear, White Daisy, Poppy
B&Ts: Taste of Summer
Stamps: Taste of Summer
Ink: Poppy, Pear
Other: Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, yellow ribbon (not CTMH)

Vintage Christmas Wishes
Here is a card I made for 5 challenges.
Atlantic Hearts Sketch
Sunday Stamps - colors
Heart 2 heart - Christmas
Double Trouble - Christmas and fancy fold
Pile It On - Vintage/Retro and Warm Wishes
I thought the color challenge went well with the Yuletide Carol paper pack. I just left out the red and green and added the Peacock cardstock. I inked the edges in Colonial White to give it a distressed look. The sentiment piece was inked in Desert Sand. I added a ton of embellishments to complete the vintage look.
The fold is not very fancy. I just added a flap so that when I finish the card at Christmas time, depending on who I give it to, I can do a little peek-a-boo thing inside.
Materials used:
Cardstock: Peacock, Colonial White
B&Ts: Yuletide Carol
Stamps: Scandinavian Wishes
Ink: Peacock, Colonial White, Desert Sand
Other: Fundamentals Assortment Peacock, Wooden Mini Medleys, Frosted Assortment, Yuletide Carol Assortment

Watercolor
Here's a card I made for CAS(E) This Sketch and Just us Girls. I tried a new technique on this one. I did a watercolor background. Instead of using real watercolors, like I should have, I used my ink pads and water and a paintbrush. It was an experiment, it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Next time, I'll try using my watercolor palette. I haven't used it since we moved from Wisconsin over two years ago.

Fun in the Sun
I'm finally getting around to posting my card for the Wednesday challenges. I'm using the sketch from Freshly Made, the colors from Color Throwdown, and the theme, "Fun in the Sun," from Simon Says. The technique of embossing is for the Three Amigos Blog Hop challenge.
I used Kraft as my base and embossed my white panel with my cloud embossing folder. The sun was stamped before I embossed it. I layered everything on, then added a Slate baker's twine bow to tie in the grey of the airplane. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my card and that you'll come play along with me!
Materials used:
Cardstock: Kraft, White Daisy, Honey
Stamps: Splendid Day

Pink Flamingos
This afternoon I made a card using the sketch at Tuesday Morning and an inspiration photo from a new challenge I found called City Crafter.
I was to use 2 of the following: pink, flamingo, wooden tiles, phone, and the word, "hello." I think I checkmarked all except the phone. I really like how it turned out. The only wooden tile I had was from the timberline assortment, so it's kind of camping themed, but I still like it.
I only had a tiny flamingo stamp from the Adventure USA stamp set. But I think it worked fine front and center. I was so excited to make this card because I got to play with my new dies that I bought from Hobby Lobby today. I got the Framelits and a set of sentiments.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you can come play along with me at these fun challenges!
Materials used:
Cardstock: Taffy, White Daisy
B&Ts: Brushed
Stamps: Adventure USA
Ink: Pixie

Summertime and Popsicles!
Hi! Welcome back to my blog. I'm glad you came to see what I'm up to. Today I made a card for the sketch at CAS Colors and Sketches. I found a couple of new challenges. One is a color challenge from Tuesday Throwdown. One is a German challenge called Paperminutes and they are calling for ornaments. Now here in America, when we say ornament, we usually mean something you hang on a Christmas tree. Or it can mean just something decorative. I'm not sure what it means exactly in Germany, but I'm assuming it's a doily type image, so I used a die cut doily on my card. I found this half-doily in my bits box from many years ago. I added some popsicles to my card for the "feed me" challenge at Shopping Our Stash.
I stamped the popsicles in the different colors of the color challenge and used Desert Sand for the sticks.
I got a new set of dies from Hobby Lobby, and used the celebrate die to cut out the sentiment. I mounted it on a strip of Hollyhock so you could see it.
Thanks for checking out my card and I hope you can come play with me at these fun challenges!

Cardstock: White Daisy, Hollyhock
Stamps: Blossom Cardmaking WOTG
Ink: Blush, Hollyhock, Petal, Sunflower, Key Lime, Glacier, Desert Sand

Snow in July
Hello! Today I'm going to share with you a card I made for the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch. I found a couple of new challenges to pair it with. The first one is a Christmas card challenge called Winter Wonderland. They are challenging us with the theme, Simply Snowmen this week. The other is called Use Your Stuff. I used the colors from their mood board for my snowman card.
For this one-layer card, I picked 8 snowflakes from four different stamp sets and lined them up on a block. Then I inked and stamped them in different colors for a kind of ombre effect. I cut the snow man with my circle cutter, and layered him in Lagoon to look like a he has a shadow. Then I hand cut out a scarf, hat, and carrot nose and glued them on with help from my 4-year-old. She wanted the sentiment to say "Happy Christmas," so I selectively inked a Happy Valentine's Day and a Merry Christmas to make it say "Happy Christmas."
I hope you like my card and that you'll come play along with me!
Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Lagoon, Pacifica
Stamps: Wintry Wishes, Winter Joy, Holiday Magic, Snow Days, Just To Say
Ink: Honey, Juniper, Slate, Pacifica, Lagoon

Bees and Flowers
Here are my Monday challenges that I'm participating in with this card:
Atlantic Hearts - Sketch
Cupcake Inspirations
Heart 2 Heart - Anything Goes
Double Trouble
For the 3, 2, 1 recipe for Double Trouble, I used 3 colors, Black, White and Yellow, which were also the colors for Cupcake Inspirations. I used a 2-word sentiment, Bee Yourself. And I used one stamped image, well, scene really - the bee with it's hive. I also used dry embossing for the Twisted Sister's challenge. I'm doing the Double Dare by entering this into the sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts.
My patterned paper is Georgie, and the accessories are from the Brushed assortment.
Come join me this week. These are very fun challenges to play along with!
Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Black
