Saturday Card

Happy Easter. I hope you all had a good one! There were 4 Saturday challenges that I wanted to play along with, but I didn't have time yesterday, so I made it today. The challenges are:

Dynamic Duos - Primrose Petals plus one other color
Our Creative Corner - Travel Inspired plus 2 Designer Papers
The Sweet Stop - sketch
Crazy 4 Challenges - give it a Twist

When the card is closed, it follows the sketch, and it looks like the plane is going to crash! But, I made a twisted easel card, so when you open it, it looks like the plane is going straight up (that was my husband's idea).
I used Blush for the pink and I used Tulip as my second color for Dynamic Duos.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Blush, Colonial White
B&T: Roxy, Dakota
Stamps: Splendid Day, Speech Bubbles
Ink: Slate, Tulip
Other: Red glitter Gems

52{C}CT March Anything Goes Week

Hey everybody. This week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown anything goes, except a card, tag, or ATC. There are some home decor items that I would like to try making this year, including ornaments, a wreath, a banner, and some framed art. So this week I decided to try the wreath, since I purchased one a while back. I cut out some flowers using the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge and rolled them and attached them to my grapevine wreath with hot glue. I really wanted to add some candy canes, but it's not the season for that sadly. So I found some peppermints and added those in to make it look Christmasy. I also added a burlap bow tied with jute twine.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Ruby, Hollyhock, New England Ivy, Cocoa, Colonial White
Other: Burlap Ribbon, jute twine (not CTMH), wreath from Hobby Lobby (not CTMH), peppermints from Walmart (not CTMH), Art Philosophy cricut cartridge.

Freshly Made & Color Dare #36

I chose Claire colors for this week's color dare: Hollyhock, Blush, Sunset, and Outdoor Denim.
I was going for a very clean-lined, retro look. I really like the Durables studs because they remind me of those tacks in retro-style furniture. To color the Kraft Border, I used my Outdoor Denim alcohol marker. That seemed to work really well!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Hollyhock, White Daisy, Outdoor Denim
B&Ts: Claire
Stamps: Thoughtful Tidings
Ink: Outdoor Denim
Markers: Sunset, Outdoor Denim
Other: Outdoor Denim & Sunset Mini Medleys, Round Durables Studs, Paradise Just Blooms, Color Ready Kraft Borders

52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown March Embellishment Challenge

It's ribbons and bows this week at 52{C}CT! I was trying to decide what to do, and I thought of 2 things I've been wanting to try, so I combined them. The first is to use my new bird embossing folder, the second is to use my cherished red gingham ribbon. (It's my FAVORITE!) I'm so sorry it's hard to see the embossing in the picture:

We'd love for you to come and join us this week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Sky
Stamps: Very Merry Christmas

Spring is Coming (eventually)

Well, it's been a long winter, and it's still winter. It snowed last night and was below freezing again today. I don't know how much longer I can take it. I've been sick for a week, so that's not helping any. My husband is convinced I have the flu, but I think it might be pneumonia. At least it's the worst cold I've ever had. Anyway, I need to stop complaining.

Here is a spring card. I made dinner for a lady who had a baby a few weeks ago and delivered this card with the dinner tonight. She didn't open it while I was there, so I didn't get a reaction.

I used the colors from Dynamic Duos, the sketch from the Sweet Stop, and I used a frame for the challenge at Less is More:

Here is a close-up:

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy
Stamps: Remarkable Wreath
Ink: Black, Buttercup
Other: Black Ribbon Assortment, yellow flowers from Prima (not CTMH)

Baby Card and Blanket

I made this baby blanket for a pregnant woman in our church, and she had her baby the other day. Today's challenges were perfect for making a card to go along with the blanket. I might see her at church tomorrow, so I wanted to have it ready just in case. The blanket's colors were analagous - red, pink, orange, and peach, and the challenge at Our Creative Corner was to make a square card using analagous colors. The sketch at Crazy4Challenges was square, so that worked out perfectly. Here is my card:

This card is very dimensional because of the rosette ribbon:

Here is the card with the blanket I crocheted:

Materials used:
Cardstock: Taffy, White Daisy, Hollyhock, Blush
Stamps: New Arrival
Ink: Ruby
Other: Pink Ribbon Assortment, Sunset Mini Medley, Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - March Theme=Animals

We're having a theme week at 52{C}CT. The theme is Christmas animals, but not birds. I had yet to use the little donkey and sheep stamp in my Glory To God set, and I really have been wanting to use it, so this was the perfect opportunity! I just did some simple stamping of the sillouhettes on my card, and highlighted a couple parts with just a little bit of gold glitter glue. Then I topped it off with 2 antiqued copper corner embellishments.

I added the wise men on their camels to the inside corner of the card:

Thanks for looking, and come join us in making a Christmas card a week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Desert Sand, Bamboo
Stamps: Glory To God!
Ink: Cocoa
Other: gold glitter gel (Studio G - not CTMH), Antiqued Copper Mini Medley Assortment

Brick Wall Technique

Here is an Easter card I made using the brick wall technique at Technique Time Tuesday. I used the sketch from Simon Says, and the colors from Color Throwdown. The inside Bible verse is from Word Art Wednesday.

I hope you can tell that the picture is of a lamb. I'm not sure I used the best stamp for the technique, since I was trying to follow the directions and make a shadow-effect.

I cleaned the lens on my camera, can you tell?

Here is the inside:

Materials used:
Cardstock: Baby Pink, Desert Sand
B&Ts: Dotty for You, Flirty
Stamps: He is Risen, Say it in Style
Digi: 1 Cor. 2:9b from Word Art Wednesday
Ink: Black, VersaMark
Other: Black embossing Powder, Just Blooms Floret Assortment, Mocha Opaques, doily (Wilton - not CTMH)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

A little early! This card is for the Irish colors over at Color My Heart: Olive, Sweet Leaf, and Goldrush.

I completely cased my card from this card that I saw on pinterest. I stamped my own bingo card using Bingo Alphabet, and I made the shamrock from the heart in that same set. I stamped the shamrock and cut it out, then I stamped the hearts individually, cut them out, folded them, and adhered them to the shamrock for dimension.

I will also enter this into the green challenge at Heart2Heart.

Materials Used:
Cardstock: Colonial White, Vanilla Cream, Olive
B&Ts: Lucky
Stamps: Bingo Alphabet, Year Round Cheer
Ink: Goldrush, Olive
Other: Sweet Leaf Ribbon, Epoxy Bubbles, Spring blossom Just Blooms

Cup of Good Cheer

Here's another Christmas card for my stash. I made it for these wonderful challenges:

Merry Monday
Sentimental Sundays - 3 embellishments that start with "B" (I used brads, a button, and a bow)
Pile It On - Oh, yummy! (I used tea/coffee/something hot to drink)
Black Tie Fridays
The Play Date Cafe

The colors from the Play Date Cafe got me until I remembered the Magic Moments paper pack. It worked great. You can see the green better in this close-up:

The inside simply says "Merry Christmas."

Materials used:
Cardstock: Colonial White
B&Ts: Magic Moments
Stamps: Cup of Cheer
Ink: Indian Corn Blue
Other: Green Button Assortment, Hollyhock Sassy Strands, Pink Brads Assortment

Shabby Dress Card

I have one more post for today. I took inspiration for this card from adorable photo at the Shabby Tea Room. I also added green for the Pink Elephant and Heart2Heart challenges for this week. The sketch is a really cool sketch from Mojo Monday. I spent a lot of time making this card, so I hope you all like it. I really like the outcome.

Here is a close up on the dress. I cut it out using the Artiste Cricut cartridge:

I also cut out the dress form and the doily circle, the little flowers and the leaves with Artiste. Here is a close up on the bow:

I stamped "Happy Spring" using the selective inking technique to take off the little bunny. I tied the button onto the bow using Baby Pink Embroidery Floss.

Here is a close-up on the butterflies. The big one is from the Bliss level 2 assortment:

Here is one more view of the card, but it is kinda fuzzy. But you can see how sparkly it is in this picture:

This is my first time combining pink and green and I really like the combo. Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate your comments!

Hubby's Birthday!

Yesterday was my husband's birthday, and I really wanted to make it special. For my card, I wanted to use the challenges from Dynamic Duos, Crazy4Challenges, Our Creative Corner, and Less Is More.

I made this card using a cutout from the Artiste Cricut cartridge. The challenge at Crazy4Challenges was to use the negative space of your die cut. So I cut it right out of my card front. On the inside of my card I stamped the cupcake from Artiste, colored it with alcohol markers, and decorated the sprinkles with bitty sparkles. This card really came together nicely, because the exact stamp I wanted to use had stripes AND polka dots, which was the challenge for a one-layer card at Less is More! I used the colors sky blue & grass green from Dynamic Duos, and the inspiration photo from Our Creative Corner. I also added some Antiqued Copper brads for the metal embellishment from Our Creative Corner:

I had to use the Artiste booklet to hold my card closed. Here is the inside:

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy
Stamps: Just a Number, Artiste birthday
Ink: Cocoa, Pear, Sky
Marker Sets: Pear, Sky
Other: Basic Bitty Brads, Sparkles - Brown & Tan Assortment

I also made a banner for his birthday using Black Artiste letters and paper from Dotty For You. I used jute twine and staples to hang it:

I took an idea I saw on pinterest and cut tablecloths in half legthwise to use as streamers. I like the way it looks!

And here's the birthday boy:

His presents and the cards DDs made him:

The cake I made is funny-looking! He only likes chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, but it looked kind of plain, so I whipped up a batch of butter frosting, dyed it green, and loaded it into a piping bag with a large star tip. I put a border around the edge, and then tried to write "Happy Birthday" in the middle. My tip was too large, so I ran out of room and had to go off the edge!

He had 17 candles and each one was worth 2 years. You do the math!

I hope you liked my birthday post. I might be making a bigger deal out of birthdays from now on, so check back in about a month when DD3 turns 4.
