For my first three children, I had their scrapbooks finished shortly after they turned one. That is why it will come as a shock to you to hear that my 3-year-old's first-year scrapbook is not finished yet, actually it's barely started. Life changes and homeschooling have gotten in the way of my scrapbooking time. This week I pulled out my supplies and worked on the album for three days straight. Sometimes I make cards and think, "I'm using up all my scrapbooking time and supplies making cards I don't need." But I really like participating in card challenges, so I just need to find a balance. Maybe soon I will take some pictures of all the layouts I made and post them here.
My husband took my son canoeing this morning, so I let my girls watch cartoons and took a few minutes to make this card. It was not hard, and I still feel like it needs something, but one-layer cards are not my forte. I'll get better at it with practice.
Less is More is asking for a one-layer card using vehicles.
Addicted to CAS is asking us to make a one-layer card.
Just Us Girls is challenging us to use something shiny.
Crazy 4 Challenges says to use monochromatic colors.
You can see that I embossed the car in silver.
I used shades of green for my card.
I added another piece of advice on the inside of the card to finish it off.
Materials used:
Cardstock: Sweetleaf
Stamps: The Long Way Home, Ciao
Ink: Topiary, Whisper pigment Ink
Other: Silver Embossing powder

Happy Camper
I have not played along with Your Next Stamp yet, so I decided to try my hand at their sketch and color combo. It was a pretty one! I needed a theme, so I found the "Camp Out" theme at Heart 2 Heart and made a cute little camper card! I'm also going to enter this into the "Great Outdoors" challenge at The Paper Players.
The colors I used are: Chocolate, Slate, Cranberry, Olive, and Buttercup.
Materials used:
Cardstock: Olive, Colonial White, Cranberry, Chocolate
B&Ts: Babycakes
Stamps: Camper Crazy
Ink: Cranberry, Slate
Other: Chocolate woodgrain washi tape, Watercolor Pencils

Mickey Mouse Friend
At As You See It, they are wondering what helps us get our mojo back for creating when we've lost it. Well, I have always liked challenges, specifically combining as many challenges as I can. And I don't mean those "anything goes" challenges. No. I mean I like to find a sketch, find a color scheme, find an inspiration photo, find a theme, and maybe a couple others to inspire me! I feel like if I can successfully meet all the challenges, I have created something wonderful.
For this week I have found 7 challenges to try to follow. It was tricky.
For the sketch, I chose Atlantic Hearts:
For the colors, I chose Color My Heart. They asked us to use 3 or more colors from the prickly pear. Three of the colors were primary, so I chose those to also participate in the primary colors challenge at Pile It On: I chose Lemon, Poppy, and Sapphire. I also threw in a little Pink.
I added some flamingos to participate in the summery challenge at Cupcake Inspirations:
The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was to use only die cuts. So I cut out a Happy Birthday sentiment from the Artiste Cricut cartridge, and I used my Mickey Mouse head die and embossing folder.
I also wanted to do this tic-tac-toe from The Paper Players. I did the die cut and birthday theme (across the top) but I think I forgot the banner. Oops. I did use blue and pink, so maybe it counts for something!
I also wanted to enter this into the friends challenge at Heart2Heart, so I made my own background paper by stamping the word friends in Poppy ink on the flamingo paper. Hopefully using stamps to create background paper doesn't count against me in the die cut challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.
So, after seeing all that, here's my card. Do you think it meets all the challenges? Did it turn out well? I think it would be nice for a kid's birthday! Unfortunately, my dad was visiting last week, and I didn't get a chance to upload my card in time. So I am late for some of these challenges. But that's ok. I still got a great card out of it!
