Mojo and Pink Elephant

I made 2 cards today. The first one was based on this inspiration photo from the Pink Elephant challenge:

I used the CardPatterns sketch. I really knew how I wanted to make this card, and I think it woulda been great, but my stamping didn't turn out so well. Here it is:

I really loved the inspiration photo at the Shabby Tea Room, and my new (non-CTMH) paper pack went perfectly with it.

The rules were to make a project USING WHITE/CREAM, PINK and BLUE plus FLOWERS and A FABRIC ELEMENT! Here's what I came up with:

This was my first time using my Kraft paper (besides those die-cut cards), and I love the way it looks!

Daisies

The challenge from a Day for Daisies was a fun one this week. They had a phot inspiration with bright colored pinwheels. I took my inspiration from the colors, and used my colorful butterfly Dotty for You paper:

More Shabby Chic

The challenge at Our Creative Corner was Shabby Chic, so it was a good chance for me to practice. I didn't distress these papers quite as much as I did on the last one. I really like how it looks with the Parchment cardstock. I used the sketch from the Sweet Stop.

Memorial Day Card

I had 4 challenges and I was trying to figure out how to get them all to fit into 1 card. The first is a sketch from Deconstructing Jen. The second is an inspiration photo from Inspired By. The third is a color challenge from the Play Date Cafe. And the fourth is a man challenge and to use patterned paper from CAS-ual Fridays.

So, here's what I came up with:

I kept thinking the apron picture was so girly, so how could I make a guy card out of that? But then the man apron idea came to me. CAS-ual Fridays requires a clean and simple project; this one's clean, but not too simple. But I just couldn't resist this apron! I saw the idea from Jayma Malme. And Cherry-O was perfect for the color challenge :)

Father's Day for My Dad

The challenge over at Simon Says was to make a Father's Day project. So I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday to make this card. My dad's favorite colors are brown and beige and blue, so I paired Victory with Lilac Mist. I LOVE this combination. Lilac Mist has always been one of my favorite CTMH colors! Here is my card:

I used my blending pen and stamp pads to color in the lion. I'm trying to imitate the look of copics (since I don't have any), and it really can't do as detailed of a job as I'd like it to. The ink pads in the picture are the ones I used to color the lion with. 

This lion reminded me of a stuffed lion my dad had when I was growing up. He played the part of the lion in Daniel, Darius and De'Lion, a church play we did when I was little. I think that's what got him to like lions. I really hope he'll like this card.

Dotty for You Butterfly Card

I've been following Allisa Chilton's blog and trying to understand her style. I really like it, so I made this card using what I've learned from her. Thanks Allisa! I used the sketch from Freshly Made, rotated, the colors are from Color Throwdown, and the word art is from Word Art Wednesday.

Florentine WOTG

We finished the Florentine Workshop on the Go in my club this week. I thought the ribbon flowers were really pretty, and the Ribbon Carousel challenge reminded me of them. The sketch from Card Patterns also reminded me of them, so I made this cute card:

I colored the seam binding ribbon in Goldrush, then twisted and turned it on the stamped cut-out flowers to make those pretty roses.

Butterfly CASE study

I found a new challenge blog called CASE study. CASE stands for Copy and Steal Everything. So I guess the idea is to come as close to the original as possible (correct me if I'm wrong). I got my inspiration from the original card, but I made it different to participate in some other challenges. I took this sketch from Cards & Things, and the colors are from Dynamic Duos, also a new challenge to me. I love how this card turned out.

This is the original: I took inspiration from the woodgrain background (my FAVORITE part of this card!), the butterflies, lace, tag, and hemp.

I do not have an embosser, like a cuttlebug, so I just used my stylus and my paper trimmer. I love how this turned out! It has the effect of boards on the woodgrain. The colors I used were Black, White Daisy, and Sunny Yellow.

CAS

Here is a card that is the opposite of shabby chic . :) This is for the punchy challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. I used the sketch from the Sweet Stop and the colors from ColourQ.

This card came together really quickly and I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I was supposed to use an old punch for the CAS-ual Friday challenge and I have VERY few punches. One is an old Creative Memories punch I won at a crop. I don't use it much, but it reminded me of confetti, so I used it for this Graduation card. I got the idea of the cap from someone on the CTMH bulletin board (can't remember who). The ruffled ribbon was perfect for the Sweet Stop twist: add ruffles!

Shabby Chic

I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I knew what the kind of card looked like that I wanted to create, but I didn't know the name of the style, or how to create it. I finally realized, the look I was going for was called "Shabby Chic." I googled and found a little tutorial about making the soft, layered look. I was surprised to find out it involved a lot of painting. So I ran over to Walmart (that's the only craft store in my dinky town), and picked up some things... flowers, paper, charms, floss, lace, and, wouldn't ya know it, spray paint! I painted my buttons and flowers and lace and even my paper! Never done that before. What do you think? How'd I do?

I used the sketch from Mojo Monday, and my inspiration and colors came from this photo from the Shabby Tea Room. I really like this photo! The theme at Heart2Heart is distressing. Boy did I use a lot of distressing on this card! I used paint, my edge distresser, sponging, and distressing ink.

Hodge Podge Birthday Card - Paper Piecing Technique

The challenge at Crazy4Challenges is to create a birthday card. I love my stamp, Piece of Cake, and I wanted to use up some of my scraps. So I used lots of little pieces from different paper packs including Dotty for You, Mischief, and Hooligans. This sketch is from the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge.

Anniversary Card using Scraps

I made this card for a few challenges: A new challenge I found called Use it or Lose it. It was to make a wedding card using up scraps that you have. I made this with the color inspiration from Our Creative Corner. We were to use orange and blue with some neutrals like white and brown. The sketch is from Retro Sketches. I am giving this card to my friend for her anniversary coming up this week.

Find Joy - Masking Technique

I made this card for the Play Date Cafe color challenge and for the Deconstructed Sketch.

Paper: What is the name of that paper pack Creative Basics?, Colonial White and Honey cardstock.

Ink: Black

I used the masking technique to take the "romance" off the lampost stamp, and to make the sentiment say "find joy" instead of "Find what brings you joy and go there." I didn't feel like this card needed extra embellishments. I really like how it turned out.

2 Types of Cards

My first card is a Clean and Simple card. I'm pretty good at those, because they're the only ones I ever make.  I try to make it ornate, or fancy, or heavily embellished, but it always turns out clean and simple. Well, for this one, that's okay. Simon Says has a CAS challenge today. I used the Freshly Made sketch and the colors from Color Throwdown.
