Pink Flamingos

This afternoon I made a card using the sketch at Tuesday Morning and an inspiration photo from a new challenge I found called City Crafter.

I was to use 2 of the following: pink, flamingo, wooden tiles, phone, and the word, "hello." I think I checkmarked all except the phone. I really like how it turned out. The only wooden tile I had was from the timberline assortment, so it's kind of camping themed, but I still like it.

I only had a tiny flamingo stamp from the Adventure USA stamp set. But I think it worked fine front and center. I was so excited to make this card because I got to play with my new dies that I bought from Hobby Lobby today. I got the Framelits and a set of sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you can come play along with me at these fun challenges!

Cardstock: Taffy, White Daisy

Summertime and Popsicles!

Hi! Welcome back to my blog. I'm glad you came to see what I'm up to. Today I made a card for the sketch at CAS Colors and Sketches. I found a couple of new challenges. One is a color challenge from Tuesday Throwdown. One is a German challenge called Paperminutes and they are calling for ornaments. Now here in America, when we say ornament, we usually mean something you hang on a Christmas tree. Or it can mean just something decorative. I'm not sure what it means exactly in Germany, but I'm assuming it's a doily type image, so I used a die cut doily on my card. I found this half-doily in my bits box from many years ago. I added some popsicles to my card for the "feed me" challenge at Shopping Our Stash.

I stamped the popsicles in the different colors of the color challenge and used Desert Sand for the sticks.

I got a new set of dies from Hobby Lobby, and used the celebrate die to cut out the sentiment. I mounted it on a strip of Hollyhock so you could see it.

Thanks for checking out my card and I hope you can come play with me at these fun challenges!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Hollyhock
Stamps: Blossom Cardmaking WOTG
Ink: Blush, Hollyhock, Petal, Sunflower, Key Lime, Glacier, Desert Sand

Snow in July

Hello! Today I'm going to share with you a card I made for the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch. I found a couple of new challenges to pair it with. The first one is a Christmas card challenge called Winter Wonderland. They are challenging us with the theme, Simply Snowmen this week. The other is called Use Your Stuff. I used the colors from their mood board for my snowman card.

For this one-layer card, I picked 8 snowflakes from four different stamp sets and lined them up on a block. Then I inked and stamped them in different colors for a kind of ombre effect. I cut the snow man with my circle cutter, and layered him in Lagoon to look like a he has a shadow. Then I hand cut out a scarf, hat, and carrot nose and glued them on with help from my 4-year-old. She wanted the sentiment to say "Happy Christmas," so I selectively inked a Happy Valentine's Day and a Merry Christmas to make it say "Happy Christmas."

I hope you like my card and that you'll come play along with me!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Lagoon, Pacifica
Stamps: Wintry Wishes, Winter Joy, Holiday Magic, Snow Days, Just To Say
Ink: Honey, Juniper, Slate, Pacifica, Lagoon

Bees and Flowers

Here are my Monday challenges that I'm participating in with this card:

Atlantic Hearts - Sketch
Cupcake Inspirations
Heart 2 Heart - Anything Goes
Double Trouble

For the 3, 2, 1 recipe for Double Trouble, I used 3 colors, Black, White and Yellow, which were also the colors for Cupcake Inspirations. I used a 2-word sentiment, Bee Yourself. And I used one stamped image, well, scene really - the bee with it's hive. I also used dry embossing for the Twisted Sister's challenge. I'm doing the Double Dare by entering this into the sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts.

My patterned paper is Georgie, and the accessories are from the Brushed assortment.

Come join me this week. These are very fun challenges to play along with!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Black

300th Color Dare!

Hello! I am excited today to be playing in the 300th challenge at Color My Heart. I am so grateful to Marie for the shoutout, and I'm so grateful that she has kept my dream going since I had to step down due to homeschooling. I'm so grateful to the whole design team, past and present. Thank you to Marie, Becca, Caroline, Lela, Sheri, Sheila, Hansi, Tina, Linda, Gretchen, Michelle, Amie, Pam, Shirley, Peachy, Jen, Donna, Catherine, Carmen, Tracey, Suzanne, Susan, Alyson, Debi, and Melanie. I'm sorry if I forgot anyone, but you all have worked so hard to make this challenge blog a success, and I hope it continues to be and I hope I'll be able to rejoin at some point. I'm having so much fun creating this summer, and I'll try to see if I can continue into the fall, although I'll be schooling all 4 of my children, so I imagine it will take up a LOT of my time!

So, onto my card. I used the sketch from Your Next Stamp, and I think some of the colors fit as well. I did some heat emossing for the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. I decided to make a sympathy card, and I hope I don't have to use it anytime soon. The paper I used is from an old fundamentals assortment. I'm not sure what Mink looks like since I don't have it, but it looked a little grey to me, so I used Whisper. The Whisper and the Pacifica fundamentals paper had the same pattern, so they fit nicely together. I used Baby Pink ink also, since I don't have Bashful yet. These two colors look so nice together!

I did some emboss resist with white embossing powder, and I watercolored the roses and leaves with my ink pads.

There is a giveaway at the Color Dare this week, so go play along. You could win a fabulous prize box full of Close to My Heart products!

Beautiful Cactus

I love that cactus photo from Fusion, and I was wondering what I could use for my card. I finally figured out that the Flower Market Cricut cartridge has cactuses on it. Sometimes using the cricut is daunting for me, but I just forced myself to grab some paper scraps and pick out cuts and just do it. It's not as bad as I imagine it to be, and it comes out beautifully. I think my issue is that each time I use the Cricut, the mat gets less sticky. I bought myself some new mats, so I don't have so much to worry about!

I'm also entering this into the Anything Goes challenge at Heart 2 Heart.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Pacifica, Lagoon, New England Ivy, Garden Green, Colonial White
B&Ts: Timberline
Stamps: Cricut Flower Market Collection - Sending Smiles
Ink: Chocolate

Small Packages

Good things come in small packages. Here is a card I made for a Square Card challenge. I decided to make it 4"x4" because somewhere I have that size envelope. It is little but very impactful. The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches. The Colors are from Color Throwdown, and the verse is printed from Word Art Wednesday. My children memorized Psalm 23 this year, and this verse has been stuck as a song in my head for months now. I love it! There's so much hope there for those of us who have trusted Christ as our Savior and Lord.
