Some Thank Yous

Yesterday I wanted to make some cards to participate in some challenges. Shopping Your Stash had a great color combination, and I found some sketches at Tuesday Morning and CAS Color and Sketches. At first I wasn't sure what to do, but then I remembered this paper pack from a couple years ago, Florence, that had pretty much the same colors as the color combo! I needed some thank you cards to write to all the wonderful folks who helped us move, so I decided to make three.

The first card uses the Tuesday Morning sketch more or less, but it wasn't quite right, so I decided to make another one, which fit the sketch better:

The third one uses the sketch from CAS Colors and Sketches.

The colors in the paper pack are Saffron, Poppy, Ruby, Flaxen, and Peacock.

I hope you can come play with me at CAS Colors and Sketches, Tuesday Morning Sketches, and Shopping Your Stash!

Happy

Today I made a Father's Day card for my husband. I'm planning on getting him a gift, and I took the kids to the store and they each picked out a $2 gift for him. They were so cute looking for things for their dad, and I think he's going to love them. I'm trying to find a charcoal grill for him, but no luck today. I still have a couple of days, so I think I can find it.

The card uses the sketch at Atlantic Hearts with the bird on the tree branches. The colors are from Color My Heart - Toffee, Juniper, and Pomegranate. I used Desert Sand instead of Toffee, because I don't have it yet. I'm also entering this into the Father's day challenges at Heart 2 Heart and Crazy 4 Challenges.

I kept this card simple with just stamping. I stamped the branches in Desert Sand and colored them in. I colored in the leaves with Juniper. The bird and the sentiment are stamped in Pomegranate and selectively filled in with Desert Sand. The inside simply says, "Happy Father's Day."

Materials used:
Cardstock: Pomegranate, White Daisy
Stamps: Sunshine Birdies

Hello Sunshine

Greetings and happy Wednesday! Today I made a card inspired by the Color Throwdown. We were to use Coral, Aqua, Green and Yellow on our projects today. I used CTMH colors Sorbet, Glacier, Pear, and Canary. I used the same sentiment from the inspiration photo, and framed it for the Frame It challenge at Simon Says. The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches.

For the sentiment, I cut some strips of Canary cardstock, and stamped Hello in Sorbet, then I stamped Sunshine in black. I used the partial inking technique for this sentiment since the full stamp said, "You are my Sunshine." For the Mason jar and the flowers, I colored them in by using water and a paintbrush and ink.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Canary, White Daisy
Stamps: Just to Say, Sunshine Birdies, Candlelight Garden
Ink: Black, Sorbet, Glacier, Pear

Not a Unicorn

Yesterday I made this card. I had planned on embellishing it with some fussy cutting, but my good scissors are missing, so I left it plain. It's still pretty, if simple. I am participating in these challenges:

I love this sentiment, because it comes from one of the funnest TV Shows. It's a quote from Dr. Dorian on Scrubs. He wouldn't admit that his diary had a unicorn on the front of it. He's so funny.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Cashmere
Stamps: It's the Little Things, Unicorn Dreams
Ink: Smoothie, Pear, Cashmere

Christmas in the country

Hello and happy Monday! Today I made a Christmas card, slowly adding to my stash. Now I have 4! Yay! So, the warm color challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown was tripping me up, and I couldn't think of how to work it. But then I saw the barn challenge at Merry Monday, and I knew immediately what I wanted to do. In addition to those two challenges, I'm also entering this into the Holiday (No birthday) challenge at Pile It On.

I used the whimsical barn stamp from one of my favorite stamp sets. I stamped it in black ink and colored it with Cranberry, Sunset, and Sunny Yellow inks using a paintbrush and water. Then I stamped two trees to make it look like winter time, and I gave it all a thin coat of fine white glitter.

The inside says "...for Christmas comes but once a year."

I hope you can make your own Christmas card this week using some of these fun challenges!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Cranberry
Stamps: Howdy, Cityscapes, Card Chatter-Christmas
Ink: Black, Sunny Yellow, Sunset, Cranberry

For Him

Welcome to my second post of today! This time I have created a card for a man. I was inspired by the challenges at:

CAS-ual Fridays - Boys of Summer
Crazy 4 Challenges - Masculine
As You See It - Masculine inspiration board
Your Next Stamp - Sketch and colors

For this card I used 4 of the 5 colors from the Your Next Stamp challenge; I also used their sketch. I used a Champagne card base. I cut a circle out of a square of Dutch Blue, and then ran it through a woodgrain embossing folder. I stamped a tree in Desert Sand and centered the squared over the tree. I affixed it with foam tape to give it some dimension. To make the scallop, I cut circles and then snipped them in half. Then I layered on the sentiment. I meant to make the light blue Glacier, and I just pulled a scrap out of my scrap bag, but I think it's actually Sky or some other light blue. Glacier would be a little greener, and I think I would have liked it better, but it still looks nice. I kept thinking it needed a little something more, and I finally found some twine from the Wooden Mini Medleys. I think it gave it just the right touch!

I hope you are able to join in some of these challenges with me this week!

Rainbows, Flowers, and Friends

Happy Saturday! I spent the last two days cleaning my house and getting ready for a party, which we hosted last night. We had a great time, and today I'm relaxing in my nice clean house and spending some time creating. I had a great morning of swimming and knitting at Starbucks. It was Worldwide Knit in Public Day, in case you didn't know. I haven't knit since Christmas time, so it was nice to get it out again.

Today I made a colorful card for some Clean And Simple challenges. The challenge theme at Addicted to CAS is rainbows, and the trend technique at Just Us Girls is to use alcohol inks. So I decided to get out my alcohol markers and messily scribble over my panel a pretty but messy rainbow. I contained it to the top panel in order to keep it CAS. I'm also adding this to the friendship theme at Less is More, and the sketch is from CAS(E) This Sketch.

After I colored the panel, I cut a circle out of a portion of it, then stamped the flowers directly onto the card base. I attached the panel with foam dots. I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap and glued it to the panel.

I hope you can spend some time on this beautiful Saturday creating something beautiful! Here are some challenges to get you inspired.
