Shabby Valentine

It's been a while since I've had time to get crafty and make cards for some challenges. My house got messy again, and that has a direct correlation to how creative I feel. I cleaned up, and my mojo came back! I made 8 cards today! This one is for

Color Dare #80 with Chantilly

I chose these colors for the Color Dare because they were 1/2 of the colors from the Chantilly paper pack. I really like them together, and they're perfect for Valentine's Day, which is what I might use this layout for. The colors are Ruby, Sunset, and Cotton Candy.

Please come play along with us this week at Color My Heart.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Sunset, Ruby, White Daisy
B&Ts: Chantilly
Complements: Chantilly
Other: Paradise Paper Shapes, Ruby Mini Medleys, Pink Buttons, Pink Sparkles, Sunset Baker's Twine

Shaving Cream Technique

I was so honored to be asked to be the guest designer for Technique Time Tuesday for the month of February! But I was super stumped when I found out what the technique was. Not that it's a hard one, I just didn't know if I had the supplies. You need shaving cream and reinkers, preferably in multiple colors. The only reinker I have is black, so I had to make that work for me. It's interesting that it turned out purplish, so I played that up and added Smokey Plum as my card base! The background paper looked a lot like a stormy sea to me, so I made this nautical card using the Tommy WOTG stamp set:

Here is the inside:
To try out the shaving cream technique, see the tutorial at Technique Time Tuesday!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Smokey Plum, White Daisy
Stamps: Tommy WOTG
Ink: Black
Reinker: Black

Christmas and Anniversary

Here are a couple of cards I made last week, but never got the chance to post. This first one is an amalgamation of the challenges from

CASE Study
CAS(E) This Sketch
Inspired By

I was inspired to use a die cut and vellum with embossing over the top by the card from CASE Study. I cut out a border from Petal cardstock using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge. The colors silver, purple and pink were from the Inspired By Inspiration Photo.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Petal
Stamps: The Happy Couple
Ink: VersaMark
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, vellum (not CTMH), Pink Sparkles, Artbooking Cricut cartridge

The next card didn't really turn out how I'd planned, but here it is anyway. I used the sketch and sponging challenge from Friday Mashup - I sponged with white pigment ink to make it look frosty. I was going to enter it into the double embossing challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, but I was too late. I got my inspiration from Frosted Designs.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Bamboo, Chocolate, Crystal Blue
Stamps: Frosted WOTG, Scandinavian Wishes, Pair-a-Phrase, Wonderland WOTG
Ink: Crystal Blue, White Daisy, VersaMark
Other: Gold Embossing Powder, snowflake embossing folder (Cuttlebug, not CTMH)

Color Dare with Florentine

This week at Color My Heart, we are encouraging you to make a project using these colors: Crème Brulee, Goldrush, Olive, and Twilight. Or you can make a project using these colors: Honey, Sunset and Lagoon (from the Cloud 9 cardmaking kit). You get to choose! I chose the first combo, because I have these colors in the Florentine Paper pack. I made this layout based on a pattern from Cherish called Visual Texture. I used the Florentine B&Ts and Stickease.

Please come join us and show us what YOU can make with these colors!

Thank-you card Set

There are a lot of color challenges out there that are using pink right now. So I thought the challenge at the Friday Mashup to make a set of Thank-you notes was perfect to go with all these color challenges! They also are challenging me to use stars, and the sketch at Less is More is perfect for that. So here is my set of cards, each one using a different color combo from a different challenge:

The first card uses the Dynamic Duos colors: I used Black and Smoothie.

The second card uses the colourQ colors. I used Hollyhock, Blush, Baby Pink, Kraft, and Colonial White.

For the third card I used the colors from Crazy 4 Challenges: I used Cotton Candy, Chocolate, Lagoon, and Colonial White.

The last one is for Color Throwdown. I used Blush, Sky, and Desert Sand.
