Easter is coming

Today my daughter had a 2-hour delay for school because of the blizzard yesterday. So I got to sleep in and I let them watch a show while I made this card for some Wednesday challenges:

Freshly Made Sketches
Simon Says - embossing
OWH Midweek Throwdown - Easter
Word Art Wednesday
Color Throwdown

I thought Sonoma worked really well with the color challenge at Color Throwdown. I'm not sure why the picture didn't turn out very pretty, but it's really nice in real life. The cross is popped up, and I used bitty Opaques on the zip strip. I embossed the sentiment on the black cardstock with white embossing powder.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Bamboo, Black
B&Ts: Sonoma
Stamps: He is Risen
Ink: VersaMark, Black
Other: White embossing Powder, Mocha Opaques

One more for today...

Today I had my 3-hour glucose tolerance test. I'm sure I failed. When I got out of the hospital, there was about a foot of snow on the roads, and I couldn't see 10 yards in front of me driving home. Good thing I knew the way! God kept us safe. It wasn't a very pleasant day for me. That's ok. I got to make this pretty card:

This card is for Mojo Monday and Merry Monday. I used Frosted Paper and Stickease. The stamp is from Winter Joy. I'm not sure why, but my Cashmere Ink Pad looks nothing like my Cashmere  paper. I wonder if I should get it replaced.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Cashmere, Champagne, Colonial White
B&Ts: Frosted
Stamps: Winter Joy, Pear & Partridge Card WOTG
Ink: Cashmere, Cocoa
Stickease: Frosted
Other: Bitty Sparkles - Clear

Happy Birthday, Clementine.

Well, I didn't post yesterday because I got so busy cleaning my house that I was too exhausted to create anything. I wanted to make this card for the Shabby Tea Room and the Pink Elephant. So I made it today. It is a VERY CAS card.

The challenge at the pink elephant was a recipe: 2 pattern papers, one border punch, and a heart. I used one pattern paper from Clementine for the strip in the middle and another one for the heart shape on the banner on top. I've been dying to use my new scallop border punch for a while, so I finally opened the box and broke it in. I used it on the Crème Brulee strip, and the pattern strip inside. This is the sketch from the Shabby Tea Room:

Materials used:
Cardstock: Colonial White, Crème Brulee
B&Ts: Clementine
Stamps: Say It In Style, Whoooo's Your Valentine
Ink: Twilight
Other: Scallop Border Punch

Winter Wishes

This is my take on the RetroSketches, 52Christmas Card Throwdown, and Pile it on Challenges. I really don't like how it turned out, but you might like it.

I really wanted a white felt snowflake, but I didn't have one. So I cut one out with paper on the Cricut and covered it with Stardust Glitz. It doesn't quite have the same effect.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Lagoon, Heavenly Blue, White Daisy, Sunkiss Yellow
Stamps: Frosted WOTG
Ink: Lagoon, Heavenly Blue
Other: Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, Stardust and Almond Glitz Glitter Gel, Snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder (not CTMH)

Sweet Surprises

Today I didn't get a chance to pull out my crafty supplies and make something. I went to a baby shower this morning, then after my nap I spent the rest of the day reorganizing and decluttering my crafting space. It is coming along slowly but surely. I had to move all my storage area into the family room. I'm glad because now it's all in one place. Plus I got a folding table for my birthday that I can put up or take down when I'm not using it. Hopefully I'll get to use it tomorrow for the first time!

So I made this Sweet Surprises card kit last week for the challenge over at Our Creative Corner. The challenge is "no more shopping sins" and we are to use up something that we bought, but has been sitting around. This kit has been sitting in my "to do" drawer for at least a year! I like these cards and they're great for kids because they have CANDY in them!

Cherry-O!

When I saw the color challenge at Pals Paper Arts, I thought of the Cherry-O paper pack. It worked out pretty well on this birthday card. I used the sketch from the Deconstructed Sketch.

The photo at Inspired By inspired me to use the blue textured paper and the large words. It is also my first time playing at Friday Mashup. I used to like to play at Black Tie Fridays, but they are not posting anymore. So this new one seems like a lot of fun! This week the challenge is to do either or both a birthday theme and twine.

Color Dare 76 with Frosted Designs

This week at Color My Heart, we are challenging you to use Smoothie on your project. You can use neutrals as well. I had my birthday on Monday, so I made this one-page layout using Roxie for the pictures that were taken. The layout is from Frosted Designs. I really like it!

This is a level 2 layout, which means I used stickers instead of stamping. The challenge at Frosted Designs was to use ink or paint, so I sponged black ink around the edges of the base page to give it a little distressed look. I love the way it turned out!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Smoothie, Black, Colonial White
B&Ts: Roxie
Stickease: Roxie
Ink: Black
