I had a great birthday yesterday. We ended up going to the Chinese Buffet.

New Christmas Card

Happy birthday to me! Haha. I'm 33 today, in case you wanted to know. My kids are out of school due to the sub-zero temperatures. That means I have to take them all to my Doctor's apt. with me this afternoon. Yay. It's been nice having them home on my birthday though.

I got a little bit of time today to make this card. I used a new stamp set for the "use something new" challenge at Heart2Heart. It is Illuminate, the Nov. stamp of the month. I had not opened it yet. The sketch is from Atlantic Hearts, and I used baker's twine for the Merry Monday "ribbon/twine" challenge.

 Here's the inside:

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Cranberry
Stamps: Illuminate, Christmas Love, Mary and Babe
Ink: Cranberry, Black, Honey
Other: Cranberry Baker's Twine, Almond Glitz Glitter Gel

Just Because

Today we had a different sort of thing at church. The temperature was supposed to drop this evening, so we had a potluck lunch and a testimony time afterwards instead of a regular evening service. That meant a long nap for me, and some free time tonight. So I made this card.

These were my inspirations:
Sketch - Sweet Sunday Sketch
Color Palette & Stars - Crazy 4 Challenges
Theme (just because) - Pile it On
I used a Christmas stamp (the star) for a "just because" card for the Make it New challenge at Sentimental Sunday
I used leftovers from my For Always workshop for the Leftovers challenge at Opus Gluei

Materials used:
Cardstock: Black, White Daisy, Smokey Plum
B&Ts: For Always
Stamps: Say It In Style, Sparkle & Shine WOTG
Ink: Black, Smokey Plum
Other: Purple Gems

Color Dare for New Year's

I was finishing up the Color Dare blog post last night when my internet started acting up. First going slow, then not working at all! It took about an hour to get it to work this morning. I don't even know what the problem was! Could it have something to do with the cold weather? (It's -9 degrees F this morning!)

So I made this layout for Color My Heart with scraps from the Magnifique paper pack and Stickease. I have the perfect picture from our New Year's dinner to put on it.

I designed the layout myself, and I really like how it turned out. I think I'm going to try to do a little more scrapbooking and a little fewer cards for the Color Dare this year. We'll see how that goes.

Come play along with us and show us what YOU can do with this color combo this week!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Colonial White
B&Ts: Magnifique
Stickease: Magnifique

A Few Challenge Cards

Today my kids went back to school, so I took advantage of the morning hours to make some challenge cards. Hopefully I will be able to stay awake this afternoon to make my Color Dare Project for tomorrow's post! I haven't been sleeping well, so I tend to take naps. But that makes me not be able to sleep well, and it's just an unending circle. So I'm going to try to NOT take a nap today. We'll see how that goes.

This first card I made for the challenge at Inspired By using the Deconstructed Sketch:

I was inspired by the colors, textures, and layers in the photo, plus the pillow that the cat is sitting on! I tried to make this one masculine. It says simply "happy birthday" on the inside.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Slate, Whisper
Stamps: Cozy Cat, Just a Number
Ink: Memento (not CTMH)
Markers: Cotton Candy, Whisper
Other: Neutral Baker's Twine, Shimmer Brads, Christmas embossing folder (Cuttlebug, not CTMH), Durables Artisan Studs

This next card is for Pals Paper Arts and CAS(E) This Sketch.

PPA186 Jan 2

It's hard to tell in the photo, but I embossed the cake with gold embossing powder. It really looks cool in person! The inside says "Old age isn't so bad... considering the alternative!"

Materials used:
Cardstock: Lagoon, White Daisy
Stamps: Just a Number, You Are My Happy
Ink: VersaMark, Black
Other: Gold Embossing Powder

This last one, I made a few week's ago. I was making it for these challenges:

CASE Study
Technique Time Tuesday
Word Art Wednesday
Simon Says
Pals Paper Arts Sketch

I ran out of time to upload it last week, so I'm late for most of these challenges. But I was inspired by the Bohemian floral pattern and the lace on the CASE Study cookies, so I used that pretty Florentine paper and some white lace.
PPA185
The verse is Romans 5:1. "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Materials used:
Cardstock: Colonial White
B&Ts: Florentine
Stamps WAW digital word art (not CTMH)
Ink: Chocolate
Other: lace from my stash (not CTMH), Base & Bling Floral accents

Technique: Faux Frame

Happy New Year - Birthday Card

Happy New Year to you! I have not been great about blogging lately, but hopefully, a fresh year brings a fresh start. I will try to post more often.

Here are some things that are going on in my life: I am just about 6 months pregnant with a healthy baby girl (or boy, we don't know yet). I will be 33 on Monday. I had a great Christmas and New Year's at home with my family. My hubby got me a One Year Bible for Christmas, and we read the NT section as a family tonight. Hoping to continue that this year!

I finished a scrapbook album of my girl's trip to their Aunt's this summer, and just got the rest of the year's pictures developed so I can finish my year's scrapbook.

This year, I'd like to participate in as many of the card challenges that I can, but not stress out if I don't get to all of them. So here is my first one. I am participating in

Freshly Made Sketches
Color Throwdown
Simon Says Wednesday

The Simon Says challenge calls for something new. I gave birthday cards to all my family as Christmas presents, so I need NEW birthday cards. So this is a new one! I might send it to my sister-in-law, whose birthday is a week after mine.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Lagoon, Whisper, Slate
B&Ts: Sparkle & Shine
Stamps: Just a Number
Ink: Lagoon
Other: Teal Ribbon, Spellbinders embossing folder (not CTMH)
