Rainy Mondays

Yesterday was a rainy day, so I made this card. But it literally took me ALL day and into the night to make it. That's why I'm posting it today. I even had to go to the store to buy some crackle medium for my picket fence. I found a tutorial here, and followed the instructions to make it. I'm not sure why, but this card didn't turn out how I envisioned it. I spent SO much time on it, too. I was going for a shabby-chic look, and I think it fell short. Some constructive criticism would be appreciated! Here are the challenges for which I made this card:

Mojo Monday - sketch
The Shabby Tea Room - Use the colors and theme of the photo
Pink Elephant - Spring Colors
Heart 2 Heart - Raindrops keep Falling

I used a cereal box and paint to make the fence. I cut out the little clouds and leaves with the CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge. I was looking for a final touch and found some old fabric that I had used to make a blouse. I couldn't believe how perfectly it matched my colors!

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Petal
Stamps: Avonlea Scrapbooking WOTG, Classmate Alphabet
Ink: Honey, Chocolate Distressing Ink
Other: Blue/Green Sparkles, Artiste Cricut cartridge, flowers and fabric and lace from stash (not CTMH), Antiqued copper brads, Plaid Christmas embossing folder (Cuttlebug - not CTMH), Folk Art acrylic paints and crackle medium (not CTMH), cereal box (not CTMH)

Sunday Cow Card

Yesterday I had guests over who wanted to make cards with me, but sadly we ran out of time. My plan was to make this card yesterday, but I made it today instead. I was so tired yesterday, and I feel another cold coming on, so I went to bed early to try to stave it off. Pray for me that it goes away! Thanks.

So I made this card for 4 Sunday challenges:
Sentimental Sunday - Get Well
Pile it On - Use wood
Opus-Gluei - Split personalities (use bright or pastel colors)
Sweet Sunday Sketch

I was really loving this cow when I used it the other day, so I thought I'd use it again. I used the wood-grain background paper from Dakota to make it look like a barn door. That will meet the wood challenge at Pile It On. I also used the bright blue bandanna rustic-looking paper from Dakota. That was for the "bright" color challenge at Opus Gluei. I'm just loving the punny sentiments on this stamp set, so I used two of them on this card. One on the front and one on the inside.

It says, "... Hope you're feeling butter." LOL That makes me crack up every time. :)

Here is the sketch:
Materials used:
Cardstock: Slate, Colonial White
B&Ts: Dakota
Stamps: Howdy
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento - Not CTMH)
Markers: Black, Grey Flannel, Taffy, Slate set
Other: Black Gingham Ribbon, Natural Hemp

52{C}CT April Sketch Challenge & Color My Heart

I was debating what to do for the color dare this week since I came up with a one-color challenge. Then I saw the sketch for 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown and I knew what to do. I thought Juniper would make a wonderful Christmas card! So here it is:
I used up the very last of my Juniper pattern paper from Perfect Day. So sad to see it go. I used the little tree from Christmas Love for my row of trees.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Juniper, Colonial White
B&Ts: Perfect Day
Stamps: Christmas Love
Ink: Juniper
Other: Colonial White Mini Medleys, Colonial White Waxy Flax, Juniper ribbon

Purple birthday card

Moving on in the weekly challenges, these are some Wednesday challenges that had me stumped for a bit. But I took some inspiration from Lynn Put at Color Throwdown, and came up with this card.

Word Art Wednesday
Simon Says - birthday
Color Throwdown
Freshly Made Sketches

The colors stumped me for a while. I chose retired Petal and Vineyard Berry, and current Buttercup and Ponderosa Pine. Here is the inside, using the verse from Word Art Wednesday:

And a close-up on the verse:

Sorry it's a little fuzzy.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Petal, Vineyard Berry, White Daisy
Stamps: Art Philosophy, Dreams Come True
Ink: Ponderosa Pine, Buttercup, Vineyard Berry, Petal
Marker sets: Creme Brulee, Ponderosa Pine
Other: Paradise Baker's Twine

Soft Yellows

Here is a card I've been wanting to make for these 4 challenges for a few days. I finally got around to it.

ColourQ
Technique Time Tuesday
Runway Inspired
Sweet Sketch Wednesday

I saw that top from Runway inspired and thought "I have the perfect paper for that." It's from the Chantilly paper pack. I also used plain buttercup cardstock to mimic the color of her skirt. The colors from colourQ were also perfect for the runway challenge. I used yellow as my main color, of course, but, using the water stamping technique, I sponged my cardstock in Sorbet, Blush, and Buttercup - my take on calypso coral, blushing bride, and daffodil delight. I thought the water stamping technique also was perfect for the watercolor-style background of the RIC photo! I used a bit of Cocoa with the brads and sentiment to pull the soft suede into the mix.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Buttercup
B&Ts: Chantilly
Stamps: Dreams Come True
Ink: Buttercup, Sorbet, Blush, Cocoa
Other: Spring Blossom Just Blooms, Colonial White Designer Brads, Basic Brad Assortment, paper towels and water (not CTMH)

"Herd" it's your birthday...

This is a cute, fun card I made for 4 challenges. I love it when everything just comes together nicely. I love how this card turned out!

Shabby Tea Room - follow the inspiration photo; use blue, white and kraft, and include a sentiment.
Mojo monday - sketch
Heart2Heart - pun fun
Rose Blossom Garden - use the "happy birthday" key on Artiste

This card really got me thinking outside of my box. I knew I wanted to use that cow, but the "happy birthday" key kind of threw me for a loop. I have been wanting to use that balloon, so I went with the "Herd it's your birthday" sentiment on the stamp set. I LOVED the colors from the Shabby Tea Room inspiration photo, so I decided to make this card "cutesy" with the doily, and leaving the cow uncolored. I love Moonstruck, and it's been sitting around, so I really wanted to use it. Then I had to find some Moonstruck pattern paper. I found a swatch of Superhero, and used the star pattern - perfect for a birthday card! I wanted to follow the sketch, so I used brads from the Outdoor Denim Mini Medleys, and just a touch of shimmer trim. I did flip the sketch, so I could put the balloon on top.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Kraft, Moonstruck, White Daisy
B&Ts: Superhero
Stamps: Howdy
Ink: Moonstruck, Desert Sand
Other: Silver Shimmer Trim, Outdoor Denim Mini Medleys, Artiste Cricut cartridge, doily - Wilton (not CTMH)

Merry Monday 56 with Pink Elephant 193

Here's another Christmas card I made with the sketch from Merry Monday. The Pink Elephant challenge is to use 3 designer papers and my favorite embellishment. My favorite is the poinsettia, and I'm very sad to say this is my last one!

Materials used:
Cardstock: Cranberry, Colonial White
B&Ts: Pear & Partridge
Stamps: Countdown
Ink: Cranberry, New England Ivy
Other: Mistletoe Level 2 Assortment
