Shabby Dress Card

I have one more post for today. I took inspiration for this card from adorable photo at the Shabby Tea Room. I also added green for the Pink Elephant and Heart2Heart challenges for this week. The sketch is a really cool sketch from Mojo Monday. I spent a lot of time making this card, so I hope you all like it. I really like the outcome.

Here is a close up on the dress. I cut it out using the Artiste Cricut cartridge:

I also cut out the dress form and the doily circle, the little flowers and the leaves with Artiste. Here is a close up on the bow:

I stamped "Happy Spring" using the selective inking technique to take off the little bunny. I tied the button onto the bow using Baby Pink Embroidery Floss.

Here is a close-up on the butterflies. The big one is from the Bliss level 2 assortment:

Here is one more view of the card, but it is kinda fuzzy. But you can see how sparkly it is in this picture:

This is my first time combining pink and green and I really like the combo. Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate your comments!

Hubby's Birthday!

Yesterday was my husband's birthday, and I really wanted to make it special. For my card, I wanted to use the challenges from Dynamic Duos, Crazy4Challenges, Our Creative Corner, and Less Is More.

I made this card using a cutout from the Artiste Cricut cartridge. The challenge at Crazy4Challenges was to use the negative space of your die cut. So I cut it right out of my card front. On the inside of my card I stamped the cupcake from Artiste, colored it with alcohol markers, and decorated the sprinkles with bitty sparkles. This card really came together nicely, because the exact stamp I wanted to use had stripes AND polka dots, which was the challenge for a one-layer card at Less is More! I used the colors sky blue & grass green from Dynamic Duos, and the inspiration photo from Our Creative Corner. I also added some Antiqued Copper brads for the metal embellishment from Our Creative Corner:

I had to use the Artiste booklet to hold my card closed. Here is the inside:

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy
Stamps: Just a Number, Artiste birthday
Ink: Cocoa, Pear, Sky
Marker Sets: Pear, Sky
Other: Basic Bitty Brads, Sparkles - Brown & Tan Assortment

I also made a banner for his birthday using Black Artiste letters and paper from Dotty For You. I used jute twine and staples to hang it:

I took an idea I saw on pinterest and cut tablecloths in half legthwise to use as streamers. I like the way it looks!

And here's the birthday boy:

His presents and the cards DDs made him:

The cake I made is funny-looking! He only likes chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, but it looked kind of plain, so I whipped up a batch of butter frosting, dyed it green, and loaded it into a piping bag with a large star tip. I put a border around the edge, and then tried to write "Happy Birthday" in the middle. My tip was too large, so I ran out of room and had to go off the edge!

He had 17 candles and each one was worth 2 years. You do the math!

I hope you liked my birthday post. I might be making a bigger deal out of birthdays from now on, so check back in about a month when DD3 turns 4.

Robot

Here is a card I made for my brother's birthday. It's a little childish, but I think he'll like it. He's turning 35 today. I haven't sent it yet because I was so busy getting ready for my husband's birthday which was yesterday. I was inspired by these challenges:

Runway Inspired
Sweet Sketch Wednesday
Pile it On - birthdays

This card is fun because I used a little Adhesive Spring to pop-up the robot. I love how it wiggles :)
Here is a front view of the card:

This is the Runway Inspired challenge photo. I was inspired by her striped shirt , the yellow in her shoes and skirt, and the little cyclops she has on her t-shirt, hence the robot.

I'm also entering this into Heart2Heart's "spring forward" challenge.

Materials used:
Cardstock: White Daisy, Black, Sunny Yellow
Other paper: b&w pack I got from M's (not CTMH), vellum from HL (not CTMH)
Stamps: Outta This World, Hodge Podge Alphabet
Ink: Black Pigment Ink
Other: Black Hemp, Honey Mini Medley, Honey Marker, Artist Cricut Cartridge

52 {C}CT Color Challenge #15

This week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown we have a gorgeous color challenge: Black, White, and Metallic Gold. I made a card based on the sketch at Sweet Sundays.

I used the retired stamp set "A Timber" and stamped the tree in black and then embossed the presents and the star with gold embossing powder. I was really excited to get to use one of my new winter Cuttlebug embossing folders. Here is a close-up:
I offset the circle a bit so you could see more of the pretty embossing. For the inside I used a Bible verse from "Glory to God!" embossed in gold, and an old wooden "Merry Christmas" rubber stamp that I have had for a long time.

Come play along with us this week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown!

Color Dare, Mojo Monday, Pink Elephant, and H2H

I didn't have to do specific colors for the color dare this week, because I chose something different. The challenge is to pick any 2 (or more) paper packs from CTMH and use them on your project. I really liked the inspiration photo from the Pink Elephant this week, so I chose the yellow and grey paper from Dotty for You. To that I added some black and white paper from For Always. I used the theme of "daylight savings" time from Heart2Heart by using a little clock from the Enjoy Life stamp set. The sketch is from Mojo Monday.

Here is a close up on the little cluster:

You may be asking what? is "always timeless." Well, the inside answers that. It's God and his care:

Well, there you have it. I hope you liked it. And I hope you will join in with us at Color My Heart. If you don't have 2 CTMH paper packs, then use one with a different kind of paper, or just pretend like you do :) Have a great weekend!

Kraft Card

Here's a fun card with a new technique I learned today:

I used the color challenge from Pals Paper Arts, and I used the technique from CASE Study. It was embossing with white on kraft and then color with alcohol-based markers.

52 {C}CT Sketch 15

Hi everybody! I'm so excited to announce that I was chosen to be on the design team at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown! I'm not sure I deserve it, but I will do my very best to live up to the task. Here is my very first design team card, for sketch number 15:

I did a very interesting technique called "embedded image" that I learned from Technique Time Tuesdays. Here is a close-up of the little Christmas tree:

You can learn this technique here. The look is really neat, and makes you wonder, "how'd you do that?" I added some red and green bitty sparkles to the tree, and the star on top was embossed with gold embossing powder and cut out.

Here is the inside of my card. I stamped John 3:16 from the Everlasting Life stamp set:

Materials used:
Cardstock: Cranberry, Colonial White
B&Ts: Mistletoe
Stamps: Countdown, Autumn/Winter 2012 Petite Perks, Everlasting Life, Advent Calendar WOTG
Ink: Versa Mark, Cranberry, Chocolate Distressing Ink
Other: Clear and Gold Embossing Powders, Cocoa ribbon Assortment, Mocha Opaques, Sparkles - Red Assortment, Sweet Leaf Rhinestones
